Genoa Retirement Village resident Bert Fleitz enjoyed a special outing on Friday, Sept. 3.
Boarding the retirement village’s bus with his daughter, Carol Phillips, and son, Paul Fleitz, 100-year-old Bert set out for a trip to Fleitz Pumpkin Farm in Oregon.
Bert moved to the farm with his family when he was a teenager. After his military service, he became the assistant principal of Clay High School.  When Bert’s father passed away, Paul purchased the farm and runs it today.
Upon arrival at the farm, Bert found many of his family members there to greet him and spend time with him.
Staff members from Genoa Retirement Village – a Trilogy Senior Living Community – worked with Bert’s family to plan the outing as part of Trilogy Foundation’s Live a Dream program, which offers opportunities for seniors to enjoy activities that they used to do more often.
Bert moved into Genoa Retirement Village Assisted Living in June 2012. He later transferred to the community’s HealthCare Campus in 2019.
