Donald "Don" Edward Applegate

Donald “Don” Edward Applegate, age 78, of Genoa, Ohio passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. He was born on September 26, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Theodore and Jeanette (Fithen) Applegate. Don was a veteran of the United States Navy (1962-1968) and served in the Vietnam War.

Don spent his career as a heavy equipment mechanic. He also worked part time at Napa Auto Parts in Genoa. He enjoyed woodworking and raising rabbits. Don was a proud softball and baseball coach, as well as a Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts leader. He loved spending quality time with his grandchildren, as well as his canine companion, Kai.

Don is survived by his wife of 55 years, Suzanne; children, Donald (Jen) Applegate, Kimberly Applegate and Darrick (Samantha) Applegate; grandchildren, Jacob, Jared, Natalie, Zachary, Kaitlyn, Allison, and Max; and sisters, Patty (Bill) Moore and Diane Carr. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gale and James Applegate, and an infant sister.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, 501 West Street, Genoa, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Clay Township Cemetery following the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be directed to American Parkinson’s Disease Association.
