DeWayne C. Hehl

April 15, 1929  – February 19, 2020

 

DeWayne C. Hehl formerly of Genoa, Ohio peacefully went home to be with the Lord on February 19, 2020 in Safety Harbor, Florida. He was born April 15, 1929 to Arnold and Hazel Hehl. 

Known for his kind and gentle manner, quick wit and who never met a stranger.  He lived in sunny Tampa, Florida for the last 25 years where he didn’t have to shovel any snow.  He was a retired Teamster truck driver who drove for Brada Miller, HW Bower, Grow Chemical and Matlack Corp.  He was also retired from Lake School District.

He had many passions, from flying to playing guitar and singing.  Known by many as DC and The Hoedowners around Northwest Ohio for many years.  He later turned that passion to Gospel Music that he continued to play up until a few years ago.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Jody and children: Sue (Mark) Mulligan of Elmore, David (Mary) Hehl of Monclova, Connie (Neal) Hildebrandt of Shakopec, MN, Steve (Donna) Hehl of Genoa, Bonnie (Tim) Gerkensmyer of Genoa,  Bill (Julie) Pommeranz of Whitehouse and proceeded in death by daughter Julie Pommeranz.  He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

There was a service held, March 3, 2020 at Harborside Chapel in Safety Harbor, Florida.  A Memorial Service will be held at Mainstreet Church in Moline on May 16, 2020 from 12-3pm.  Any memorial contributions may be given to Sun Coast Care Center in Palm Harbor, Florida.
