Cruisers raise money for Hospice of Norhwest Ohio
Car Cruisers for Hospice, a local group of car enthusiasts, has raised $18,541 this season for Hospice of Northwest Ohio, bringing the total amount raised by the group to $90,564 over the past 13 years.
“Cruisin Zeake”, Oregon, who organized the fundraising endeavor, presented a check Oct. 23 at Bayside Boardwalk to John Lechman, Vice President of Philanthropy for Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
Car Cruisers for Hospice holds weekly car shows and cruise-ins at the Applebees restaurant in Northwood to raise money for hospice.
A recent post by Lechman on the hospice website says the funds have been used to help pay for the Sincera palliative care eservice, which works to reduce pain and suffering among patients not eligible for hospice. The funds have also been used to pay for bereavement services, educate caregivers, provide massage therapy for hospice patients, and to enhance the gardens and grounds at hospice centers.
In addition, the car group has helped fund the We Honor Veterans program and the Path Finders Camp, which assists kids resolve and understand their grief.
