Catherine Jo "CJ" Briggle

Catherine Jo Briggle (71) of Phoenix, Arizona left her recent life of chronic pain on Saturday, March 19th to reunite with her beloved parents, Albert and Joan Briggle, her sister Susan, and husband, Thomas Schollmeyer. 

“CJ” was born, January 11, 1951 at St. Charles Hospital (Toledo, Ohio), grew up in Curtice, and graduated from Genoa High School in the Comet class of 1969. One of nine, CJ’s adventure began with a stint with the FBI in Washington, DC, employment with Questor (Toledo), P.I.E. trucking, Red Ball Express, sales representatives for union affairs in Denver, Las Vegas, and Phoenix, dispatcher, and lastly as an administrative clerk for the justice system of Maricopa County, Arizona. 

She was an ardent Democrat, who worked diligently for years in organizing campaigns and candidate fundraisers, attending party rallies, and promoting social causes. CJ’s travels included treks in Europe, Japan, the fifty states with notable memories made from Colorado, Montana, Arizona, and Ohio. She seldom missed family outings, whether the many niece or nephew weddings, Christmases, and the festive July retreats at the Put-in-Bay cottage. 

Passionate about living, Cathi Jo cruised the seas, played the nickel slots, and became very adept at euchre, pinnacle, and as a tournament tested bridge master. Any gathering became a party with CJ. 

Left to mourn her passing, are her siblings Rick (Gina) Briggle, Karen McKown, John (Ginny) Briggle, Tom (Linda) Briggle, Jean (Mike) Garrison, Patricia (Mike) Tokarcik, and Terrie (Ed) Jensen, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and the entire Schollmeyer family. Special Arizonian friends of Marlene, Keith, Ann, and Sean showed unconditional love for her. CJ’s devotion to her three “rescue” dogs in Yoda, Willow, and Kai is inspirational as is her wishes for organ donations. Tributes considered could include the Humane Society, American Cancer Society, or one of personal choice. 

Bueler Chandler Mortuary (www.buelermortuary.com) is making arrangements for her final interment. A celebration of her life is planned for later this year. Shed tears if you must, but find comfort in knowing CJ lived a life of proud service, generosity, and dedicated loyalty to others. To paraphrase the angel Clarence in “The Wonderful Life”, she died rich with friends and with such wealth.”
