Free fitness classes
        The Wood County and Perrysburg Area Senior Centers are holding weekly Club F.I.T. exercise classes that are free and open to those 50 years of age and older.
        This Fitness Interactive Teaching (F.I.T.) program will provide strengthening exercises and tips to keep participants active and independent. Sessions are led by physical or occupational therapists and assistants from community businesses.
        Classes are offered at the Wood County Senior Center, 140 S. Grove St., Bowling Green, on Tuesdays from 9-10 a.m.
        Classes at the Perrysburg Area Senior Center (Schaller Building, 130 W. Indiana Ave., are held Wednesdays from 10-11 a.m.

Senior center outreach services
        East Toledo area seniors who need help filling out insurance, HEAP or other forms, or information about services that are available in the community may contact the East Toledo Senior Center’s outreach worker at 419-691-2254, ext. 207 or email mwolff_etsac@yahoo.com. Rita’s Soups
        St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 798 Coy Rd., Oregon, hosts a Rita’s Soups, a soup kitchen to assist people in need of simple nutrition, on the third Saturday of each month from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
        Three varieties of soup, along with crackers or bread and a beverage is available to anyone who comes through the doors.
        A freewill offering will be accepted from those wishing to contribute to the program and its future success.
 
Diabetic Support Group
        A Diabetic Support Group will meet June 21 at 10 a.m. at the Oregon Senior Center, 4350 Navarre Ave., Oregon.
        Attendees are invited to share stories and experiences and gather information and resources for living with diabetes. Quinn McDougle leads the group.

Ottawa County Senior Directory 
        The Ottawa County Task Force on Aging published a focused resource guide for seniors and their caregivers.
        Thanks to the generous support of the Ottawa County Community Foundation, Ottawa County Job and Family Services and local sponsors, the publication is designed to promote awareness about senior services available in the county.
        Ottawa County is home to the highest percentage of people over the age of 60 in the state of Ohio. Given the aging population in the area, the Ottawa County Task Force on Aging looks to address aging-related issues to promote the safety and independence of seniors in our community.

GLCAP senior programs
        Great Lakes Community Action Partnership offers a Senior Life Transitions program for seniors looking for connections to local programs, resources and assistance available in the community.
        The program offers a one-stop hub that provides comprehensive information about local senior services including:
        • Socialization and senior activities.
        • Health needs including Medicare and Medicaid counseling, medication assistance, home health, behavioral health, Alzheimer’s and dementia, hospice and other medical needs.
        • Home-delivered meal options.
        • Transportation needs.
        • Living options including local senior housing, in-home assistance, long-term care, and assisted living/nursing facilities.
        • Caregiver and respite assistance.
        • Family services for seniors raising grandchildren or great-grandchildren.
        • Other community senior services.
