Become a maker this fall at Imagination Station
As work continues Imagination Station’s KeyBank Discovery Theater addition, even more improvements and updates are coming soon for the science center.
The museum will close to the public Sept. 3-18 for its annual autumn shutdown.
This fall, visitors will enjoy updates to the Discovery Hall lobby area and upgrades in the KIDSPACE learning world.
Toledo’s Science Center will reopen Thursday, Sept. 19, just in time for Momentum and the Toledo Mini Maker Faire.
Upcoming events include:
• Open Labor Day, Sept. 2, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer and Imagination Station’s Summer of Speed is winding down. This is visitors’ last chance to race LEGO cars, design a sail car, build a vehicle chassis from PVC pipe and test their pitching speed. All Summer of Speed activities are included in science center admission.
• Annual Fall Shutdown, Sept. 3-18.
• Tinkering Space: Electro Dough, Sept. 19-30. Flour and water aren’t just for baking cakes. Learn about electrical circuits with play dough. Included with admission.
• $5 After 5 p.m., Sept. 19, 5-8 p.m. Bring the whole family for the evening and experience hundreds of hands-on exhibits for $5 admission each. $5 After 5 p.m. is offered the third Thursday of each month through December.
• Art Loop: Dancin’ in the Streets, Sept. 19, 5-8 p.m. Design a creature to bring to life, learn how to use a motor to get your creature moving, then teach your critter to dance and doodle, slide and shake in a way that’s all its own. Art Loop activities are free and science center admission is not required.
• Toledo Mini Maker Faire, Sept. 21, noon-6 p.m. The Toledo Mini Maker Faire is a free festival of invention, creativity and imagination for people of all ages. The Faire is part of Momentum, a weekend celebrating music, glass art and making in downtown Toledo. Visit toledo.makerfaire.com for details. Toledo Mini Maker Faire activities are free and Imagination Station admission is not required.
