Rain barrel workshops
The Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District (Lucas SWCD) is partnering with local agencies and organizations to offer two Make & Take Rain Barrel Workshops this summer.
Rain barrels are an easy and efficient way to manage stormwater, while also saving money and resources.
The first workshop, set for Thursday, July 25, is being offered in partnership by Rain Garden Initiative and Partners for Clean Streams in the new gym at Ottawa Hills Elementary School, 3602 Indian Rd.
The second workshop will be held Aug. 2 in partnership by Rain Garden Initiative and the Olander Parks System in Open Air Shelter #2 at Olander Park in Sylvania, 6930 Sylvania Ave.
Both workshops will run from 4-6 p.m.
During each workshop, attendees will learn the purpose of rain barrels and be led through a step-by-step process to construct one of their own. Finished rain barrels measure approximately 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide.
Those registering should select a half hour time-slot for building their rain barrel. The cost is $35 per barrel, which includes all the materials and tools necessary.
To register, visit www.LucasSWCD.org and visit the events page, or call 419-893-1966.
