60th Ottawa County Fair to kick off July 15
The 60th Ottawa County Fair will kick off July 15 and run through July 21 at the county fairgrounds, located at 7870 W. SR 163, Oak Harbor.
The popular fair, which draws attendees from near and far, is officially one of the youngest county fairs in the state of Ohio beginning in Veterans Park in the Village of Oak Harbor in 1964 and moving to its current location – three miles outside of town in 1966.
Historians point out that there was an earlier “Ottawa County Fair” that took place in Port Clinton. Premium books 1881 and 1884, along with other memorabilia, are on display in the Senior Fairboard office at the fairgrounds.
Visitors flock to the fair for the many 4-H and agricultural displays and judging events, food, rides, entertainment and more. In addition to daily Firefighter Show, a petting zoo and chainsaw carving, some daily highlights include:
Monday, July 15:
•12 pm: Opening Ceremony.
• 2-5 p.m.: George Daly.

• 5:30 p.m.: Grande Parade.
• 6 p.m.: King & Queen Reception.

Tuesday, July 16 – Veterans Day – free admission for veterans.
• 11 a.m. - 2 pm: OSU Money Day.
• 12 p.m.: Veterans Day Activities All Day; Military Touch-A-Truck.

• 3 p.m.: Jr. Fair Kids Bingo.
• 5 p.m.: Harness Racing.

Wednesday, July 17 –
Senior Citizens Day – free admission for seniors 60+.
• 10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Senior Day Activities – coffee and donuts at 10 a.m., wagon tours, health screenings, free food and more.
• 10:30 a.m.: Harness Racing (rain date).
• 11:30 a.m.: Jr. Fair Board Amazing Race.
• 1:30 p.m.: Pie Eating Contest.
• 2-4 p.m.: Ottawa County Sheriff’s K9 Demo.
• 4-6 p.m.: Line Dancing Lessons with Kick the Dust Up with Kim.
• 7 p.m.: Diamond J Rodeo.
• 7-10 p.m.: DJ & Karaoke with Tony.
