50th Annual East Toledo Christmas Parade set for Dec. 3
The 50th Annual East Toledo Christmas Parade will step off at 11 a.m. Saturday Dec. 3. The theme of this year’s parade is “Help Honor and Remember our 50 years of East Toledo Christmas Parades.”
The individuals responsible for organizing the first Christmas Parade in East Toledo will serve as grand marshals. “We are also remembering and honoring the members of that group who have passed away, but will be with us in spirit,” said Denny Fairchild, parade chairman. “We are asking anyone who has participated in the parade in the past to try to gather up their school group, Girl Scout or Boy Scout troop, Cub Scout pack, baton and drum corps, antique car group or dance team.
“Our research has also found articles and pictures of Miss East Toledo Contest winners who were part of the parades, and we welcome them to join us this year,” Fairchild said.
“If you participated in the parades in any way in the past please call me,” he said. “We will be happy to have you as part of this year’s 50th parade.”
Fairchild may be reached at 419-693-9517.
This year, River East Associates is working together with the National Museum of the Great Lakes to make it a fun day in East Toledo. The museum, located at 1701 Front St., will hold their annual Christmas Tree Ship arrival later on parade day, from 1-4 p.m. Learn more at nmgl.org.
