Food service group at Graytown Elem. wins merit award
The food service department at Graytown Elementary School recently was presented with an Award of Merit from the Ottawa County Board of Health. Diane Kershaw, Nyla Denman and Ken Ohlemacher accepted the award.
Since 1983, the Ottawa County Board of Health has presented Awards of Merit to those licensed operations in Ottawa County which have maintained a high degree of sanitation and safety, according to Nancy Osborn, health commissioner. The annual award signifies a high level of concern by the operators, not just for meeting the rules and regulations, but in providing an operation that exceeds the minimum requirements.
Two of the eight organizations given the award are in The Press circulation area. The other is Young’s Suburban on the Portage, a manufactured home park.
The Professional Remodelers Association recently received a 2011 Torch Award from the Better Business Bureau. The award honors local businesses that demonstrate ethics, integrity and exceptional customer service.
The organization was founded in 1969 and acts as a clearing house for home owners considering a remodeling project, according to Rick Morel, executive director.
