Councilman to answer your questions
Mike Craig (D), Toledo councilman for East Toledo and parts of South Toledo, will speak to The East Toledo Club Thursday, October 20 at the club’s noon luncheon to be held next to Michael’s Café located in the Weber Block at Front and Main.

Craig will field questions from the audience regarding the hot issues facing the community—development of the Marina District by Chinese investors, dilapidated housing, vacant homes and the impact of the new Hollywood Casino.

The public is invited.

Shaun Enright, the other Democratic candidate who beat Craig in the primary, was contacted to participate in the event. He did not respond to numerous requests to do so.

At the clubs
Christine Brennan, an award winning USA Today sports columnist, best selling author and commentator for ABC News, ESPN, NPR and Fox Sports Radio, will speak to the members of the Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce on Monday, November 7, 11:30 a.m. at The Toledo Club, 235 14th Street in downtown Toledo.

Brennan, a Toledo native, has covered 14 consecutive Olympic Games, summer and winter. She is the nation's most widely read female sports columnist. She was the first woman to cover the Washington Redskins as a staff writer at The Washington Post (1985).

Her 2006 sports memoir, Best Seat in the House, set in Toledo, is the first father-daughter memoir written by a sports writer. Her 1996 best-seller, Inside Edge, was named one of the top 100 sports books of all-time by Sports Illustrated.

Brennan, a 1976 graduate of Ottawa Hills High School, is a member of the Ohio Women's Hall of Fame and Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism Hall of Achievement.

Tickets for the luncheon are $25 for chamber members and $35 for non-members. Call Sarah at 419-693-5580 or email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
