Lutheran Home
Groundbreaking set for $4 million expansion

Lutheran Home of Toledo will hold a groundbreaking Wednesday, April 20 for its $4 million expansion to add 27 private rooms for short-term skilled nursing and rehabilitation services.

Phil Amadio, director of admissions and marketing, said the Seaman Road facility is responding to customer demand. Private rooms aid in the rehabilitation process, he said. Patients typically are admitted following hip, knee or shoulder surgery, or to rehabilitate following a stroke.

The expansion will be called The Labuhn Center in honor of Rev. Gerald Labuhn, executive director emeritus who has been affiliated with Lutheran Home for more than 60 years. Completion is expected next spring. A contractor has not been chosen as of press time.

Upon completion, the home’s 45 semi-private rooms will be renovated as private rooms.

Twenty jobs are expected to be created once the expansion is complete.
