Valeria Gonzalez, a State Tested Nursing Assistant, was recently named 2010 Employee of the Year at Ottawa County Riverview Healthcare.

According to a news release from the organization, Gonzales was born in northern Mexico. At the age of 14 she went to work for the Red Cross. A doctor who worked for the Red Cross suggested that she go to work at the hospital to get more training.

She moved to Port Clinton from Zacatecas, Mexico in 1997. Before coming to Riverview, Gonzales worked for Ponderosa. She joined Riverview in 2008.

“I have loved Valeria since the day I met her in Riverview’s STNA class. To watch how hard she studied and tired to do a good job to make her family proud. She is always so thankful for the opportunity to work here that she always puts in the extra effort. It is an honor to have her as a co-worker and a friend,” states Michelle Huffman, STNA.
