Theft arrest
A Van Buren, O., man turned himself in last week to Lake Township police after an arrest warrant had been issued for him following a theft from a Tracy Road residence.

Police said Donald Schmidt, Jr., 37, came to the police station Dec. 28 after a warrant named him in a theft case in which rings, a laptop computer, and Ipod were reported stolen from the home.

According to Detective Mick Lento, the items had been left as collateral at a Woodville Road loan business.

He said Schmidt may have known the victim through a friend and didn’t break into the residence.
