On Sunday, August 17th, the children of Richard Otte will host an open house to celebrate his 60th year in the plumbing and heating business. Mr. Otte, of Luckey, began his career as an apprentice plumber with Carl Samson, owner of Samson Plumbing & Heating, in 1948. Richard, and his brother Ted Otte, took over ownership of the plumbing operations in later years and provided service to many residents throughout Wood County. Upon Ted's retirement, Richard's son, David, became a partner in the family business and the name was eventually changed to Otte & Son Plumbing and Heating.
Customers, friends and family are invited to an open house Sunday, August 17th, 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Troy Township Hall, 311 Krotzer Ave. in Luckey.
Bay Park Community Hospital has been awarded a two-year accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP) based on an onsite inspection of the hospital’s labs, documentation, quality control and quality improvement programs.
CAP serves more than 16,000 physicians members and labs across the globe.
The Andersons has completed purchase of three pelleted lime production facilities in Ohio, Illinois and Nebraska to expand the pelleted lime capabilities of its plant nutrient group.
The Andersons has operations in the grain, ethanol and plant nutrient sectors of agriculture and operates general merchandising stores including one in the Woodville Mall.

The Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce and the Oregon Economic Development Foundation will host the annual Party in the Parking Lot Thursday, August 14, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at 2460 Navarre.
The Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Super Cruise In Tuesday, August 26 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.. Cruisin’ Zeake and his Oldies Machine will provide entertainment. More than 140 classic cars are expected to be shown on Main Street.
The Cruise In is the third of the year for the chamber in its effort to increase foot traffic along the village’s Main Street. If it rains, call Marilyn at 419-855-3225 to see if the show will go on.
Up the ladder
Michael Anderson has been named president of Brush Wellman Inc, a subsidiary of Brush Engineered Materials.
Anderson, 56, will continue as president of Berylium Products and will be based in Cleveland.
Anderson is Northwood High and Miami University of Ohio graduate and has earned an MBA from Bowling Green State University.
Brush Wellman operates a facility in Elmore.
