The scarecrows are coming.
The Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce will hold a design-a-scarecrow contest to raise funds for its operations. The contest is open to businesses, non-profit organizations and individuals. The scarecrows will be sold at an auction to be held in conjunction with the chamber’s annual steak roast scheduled for Wednesday, September 17 at Oak Shade Grove.
Scarecrows must be at least four-feet tall, stand or sit on its own and be in good taste. Entries will be judged on originality, design, color and creativity. Winners will be chosen in three categories—business, non-profit organization and individuals or families.
Scarecrows must be delivered to Oak Shade Grove on Tuesday, September 16.
The fee is $20.

New therapy gym
Harborside Healthcare Perrysburg will host an old fashioned ice cream social to showcase its new rehab gym Tuesday, August 12, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Harborside provides both inpatient and outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapies. It is located on SR 795 at Oregon Road.

The Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce and the Oregon Economic Development Foundation will host the annual Party in the Parking Lot Thursday, August 14, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at 2460 Navarre.

The National Bank of Oak Harbor and GenoaBank will co-sponsor their 10th Annual Scholarship Golf Outing Friday, September 12 at the Oak Harbor Golf Club. The annual golf scramble provides scholarships to local students planning to major in business at a two or four-year college or university.

The Oregon/Northwood Rotary Club is seeking sponsors and golfers for its annual golf invitational Friday, September 5 at Eagles Landing. The outing raises money for the club’s community commitments including supporting the Challenger Learning Center, YMCA and the American Red Cross.
