The Northwest Chapter of Credit Unions will award two scholarships for 2010, one in the amount of $2,000 and one in the amount of $1,500. To qualify an applicant must be in pursuit of post high school studies of any kind including professional, vocational and academic, not limited to colleges and universities. This scholarship is open to traditional and non-traditional students and credit union membership is not required.

Applications may be picked up at Bay Area Credit Union, 4202 Navarre Ave. across from Pearson Park.

This year, applicants may answer the scholarship question with either a written essay or video. For more info visit Applications must be submitted no later than February 12


Ribbon cutting
The Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday 5:30 to 8:00 pm to welcome mr. Emblem to its new location at 3209 Navarre. Refreshments will be offered at both mr. Emblem and Alan Miller Jewelers.

Tim Stapelton, a local Santa Claus for three decades, will sign copies of his new book A View from Santa’s Knee.

The right thing
