Toledo mayoral candidates Keith Wilkowski and Mike Bell will be in East Toledo for a debate sponsored by the East Toledo Club and The Press.

The debate will be held Thursday, at 12:30, following the club’s monthly luncheon at Flaming Pit BBQ and Blues restaurant at The Docks. Chris Tarsha, club president, and John Szozda, manager of The Press, will moderate.

The Lake Township Trustees recently passed a resolution thanking Jones-Hamilton Company for its recent expansion and 28 years of providing jobs in the township.

Pamela Rose Auction Company has received six promotion and advertising awards from the Ohio Association of Realtors at its annual conference held in Columbus, Ohio.

Of the awards, the company won a first place  in the auction brochure and commercial/industrial brochure categories.

Bay Park Community Hospital recently received two awards. The first is The “Fit Friendly” gold-level recognition from the American Heart Association for its wellness programs to encourage healthy habits at work.

The hospital had a weight-loss program, contest for healthy recipes, vending machines with healthy choices, maps that show walking routes both inside and outside the hospital and motivational signs encouraging employees to use the stairs instead of the elevators.

The second award is the Operating Room Excellence Award for Pain Control from Outpatient Surgery Magazine for the decrease in patient pain levels due to a new pain control procedure.

Schools & skills
The Ottawa County Chamber of Commerce has set its training schedule for its Service Excellence Experience Certification Program.

The five sessions will be held on Tuesdays from October 27 through December 1 and include: Customer Service is Inside Out; Modeling Excellence: Customer Service for Managers; Customer Loyalty and Application Dissertation: Action Strategies.

Local Curves locations will waive service fees through October for women who bring in a mammogram or donate $25 to the American Cancer Society. The promotion is to raise awareness for breast cancer. Participating locations include: Genoa, Northwood and Oregon.
