Catholic Health Partners, parent company of St. Charles Mercy Hospital in Oregon, was named to the Top 10 list of health systems in the United States based on clinical performance in a recently released Thomson Reuters study.

Researchers from the Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals analyzed quality and efficiency of 252 health systems across the country, according to a press release from Mercy Health Partners. These five metrics were analyzed: mortality, medical complications, patient safety, average length of stay and adherence to clinical standards of care. The data studied is from 2006-2007.

Catholic Health Partners is the largest health system in Ohio. It employs 36,500 and has assets of $4.76 billion. It manages seven hospitals in Northwest Ohio including St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center and St. Charles.

The Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce will conduct its annual fundraising raffle in conjunction with its annual steak roast and scarecrow decorating contest Wednesday, September 16. Prizes include $1,000 in gas from BP-Husky Refining, a Seiko musical clock from Alan Miller Jewelers, $100 savings bond from National Bank of Oak Harbor, $100 gift certificate from Lee Williams House of Meats and oil changes for a year from Dunn Chevy Buick.

Golf
The National Bank of Oak Harbor and GenoaBank will host their 11th Annual Scholarship Golf Outing Friday, September 11 at the Oak Harbor Golf Club. The event raises money for scholarships for local schools. Call Marie at 419-898-5741 or Joyce at 419-855-8381.

The Oregon/Northwood Rotary Club seeks sponsors and teams for its annual golf invitational Friday, September 4 at Eagles Landing. The event raises funds for service projects. Some of these have been Breakfast with Santa at Clay High School, the Challenger Learning Center, dictionaries for third graders and Ohio Reads tutors.
