Alan Miller Jewelers of Oregon has joined the Independent Jewelers Organization, an international buying group and educational organization of nearly 900 independent retail jewelers.
Only the top two independent jewelers in a market area are selected for membership, Jeffrey Roberts, president and CEO, stated in a company press release.
Alan Miller stated benefits include direct access to the international diamonds markets of Antwerp, Belgium.
Membership also includes participation in educational programs in conjunction with the Gemological Institute of America.
AB&B Ergonomics, an East Toledo material handling company, reports it has been awarded a $39,000 contract to install the trash compactor at the new downtown arena.
Betty Osenbaugh is president of AB&B, which is a certified minority contractor. The company beat out a Cleveland firm for the contact, according to a company press release.
The new arena will be completed this fall and will be the home of the Toledo Walleye hockey team.
Hecklinger Insurance, Oregon, recently received the 2009-2010 Pacesetter designation from The Motorists Insurance Group, which recognizes superior professionalism and profitability.
On the boards
William Hirzel was recently elected chairman of the governing board of EISC, a group that represents a network of engineers and business advisors who typically work with entrepreneurs, start-up companies, and manufacturers to help them apply research and technology. EISC’s primary business, the Center for Innovative Food Technology (CIFT), serves the agricultural and food industries in Ohio and was created to specifically address quality and safety issues in the food processing and packaging industries as well as energy efficiency in agricultural industries.
Hirzel is a graduate of The Ohio State University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Technology. Currently, Hirzel is treasurer, plant manager and company food technologist at Hirzel Canning Company, a family-owned business in Northwood.
He has been a member of EISC’s governing board for several years.
