Dave Owens has relocated his Colonial Barbershop from the Toledo Sports Center in East Toledo to 2665 Navarre located in the Freeway Plaza in Oregon and renamed it Owens Authen-i-cut.
Owens has 32 years experience in cutting all types of hair. He owned Colonial for 28 of those years.

The Ohio Parks and Recreation Association, at its recent 2012 Awards of Excellence, recognized Metroparks of the Toledo Area in two categories.
They are: First Place in the Urban Programs Category for Week of Caring. During the Week of Caring, September 10-14, 120 volunteers contributed over 475 hours of service. They completed 10 work projects at five park locations;
Second Place in the Management Innovation Category for the park district’s Membership Grants Program. Each year, Metroparks designates a portion of funds raised through the sale of memberships and invites employees to submit applications for grants. Projects supported in the past year included new bird watching areas, a cleaning system for restrooms and electric carts used by park staff.
The awards will be presented at a banquet hosted by the association on February 26 in Columbus.
Incorporated in 1963, the association is a non-profit, public interest organization representing over 1,300 professionals and citizen board members.

Alan and Cody Miller of Alan Miller Jewelers recently attended a conference of jewelry store owners sponsored by Stuller, Inc., North America’s largest jewelry manufacturer. The conference was held in Lafayette, LA and focused on using technology to customize jewelry and delivering one-of-a-kind pieces to customers.

Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation’s health care through voluntary accreditation. Orchard Villa received Joint Commission accreditation after an on-site review in October 2012 which indicated Orchard Villa was in compliance with 100 percent of their standards, which are in addition to the basics state and federal regulations required of most skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and long term care facilities.
“By achieving accreditation, Orchard Villa has joined a select group of Joint Commission accredited long term care organizations, according to Gina Zimmerman, M.S., senior executive director. “Only about 950 long term care organizations have received accreditation nationwide.”
