U.S. Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur will speak before the Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce Thursday at its quarterly breakfast meeting 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at Maumee Bay State Park.
Rep. Kaptur represents the Ninth District which runs along Lake Erie to Cleveland and includes most of Lucas County and all of Ottawa County. She defeated fellow Democrat Rep. Dennis Kucinich in the primary and will face Samuel Wurzelbacher in November’s general election.

The National Bank of Ohio is continuing its Cans 4 All food drive until the end of October. Non-perishable food items will be given to local food banks. To help, take your canned goods to a branch office in Oregon, Curtice or Oak Harbor, or pick up a yellow bag to take home and fill.
Brooke Albright has been awarded the Rising Star of the Year Award by the Professional Insurance Agents Association of Ohio, Inc.
The Rising Star of the Year Award goes to an intern who has given an outstanding performance during their time in the program. Nominations are made by intern supervisors at host agencies and companies.
Albright is a senior at Otterbein University majoring in business administration. During her time in the internship program, Albright spent five weeks with The Hartford Group and five weeks with Diversified Insurance Service, LLC.
She is a Pemberville resident.
Trilogy Health Services has awarded Genoa Retirement Village the Platinum Award for excellence at the company’s fall meeting held recently in Louisville, Kentucky.
The award is based on customer satisfaction surveys sent to residents’ family members. Genoa Retirement Village was recognized for its scores in staff attitude, quality of nursing care, food quality, activity programming and appearance/cleanliness.
