To the editor: Congratulations to Carol Humberger (letters May 16, 2011) for her willingness to say what so many of us won’t.
I agree with her and feel ashamed that we have allowed ourselves to get to this point in this country. Where a theory can be taught as fact, but yet the very book that many schools used as a teaching aid in the early part of this country’s growth, is not even allowed to be mentioned in schools.
How dare we offend someone with a prayer, when we can simply take away the rights of the many for the comfort of the few?
Madeline Murray O’Hare started this country down a slippery slope and we of faith have allowed it to spiral completely out of control. How horrible that we would allow a child to see the Ten Commandments and then fear that they may actually want to read it and be inspired to follow them? We wouldn’t want that, now would we?
