New pastor to be installed
Dr. Don J. Giesmann will be installed as the new pastor of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Genoa April 29.
Dr. Giesmann, who was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., has been in ministry since 1974. He returns to Genoa after five years of ministry in southern Indiana. He served previously as pastor at the Grace United Church of Christ in Fostoria. He has also served as a public school teacher, seminary chaplain, writer, Christian public lobbyist.
Pastor Don says he is “very happy at such an exciting missions-minded church that includes a wonderful sense of humor.”
Hany addresses conference
Ottawa County Municipal Court Judge Frederick (Fritz) C. Hany II, was a featured speaker at the Ohio Judicial College conference held recently in Cleveland.
Judge Hany addressed more than 130 judges and judicial officials from municipal courts throughout northeast Ohio. His presentation, co-authored with staff attorney Barbara Petersen, reviewed current Ohio procedures that affect Ottawa County and all municipal courts in Ohio.
The Ohio Judicial College is the principal educational arm of the Ohio Supreme Court. Its primary function is to provide educational programs for all Ohio judges, who are required to complete continuing legal education courses on an annual basis, by either teaching or attending courses.
