First St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 1121 Grasser St., Oregon will offer weekly evening worship services Thursday evenings at Piccadilly Apartments, located west of the YMCA on the south side of Pickle Road.

The services are part of the church’s mission to reach out to the community, Pastor Beth Huener said. “Our After School program, which will begin its sixth year this Sept. 15, brought us to the attention of many of the families at the area apartment houses, including Piccadilly,” she said. ”So last January, our congregation decided to start a worship service there.”

Beginning Aug. 26, the week school starts, the worship service will take place Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. The service, which will last about 45 minutes, will be a Christian worship experience. “We are also inviting folks to remain until 9 p.m. to share faith stories or to pray,” Huener said.

Musical groups from at least three area Lutheran congregations, including Bethel Lutheran in Toledo, Calvary Lutheran in Northwood and Prince of Peace in Oregon, will take turns providing the music.

“We thank the folks at Piccadilly for offering us this space for free, and our partners in ministry who are helping us to lead worship,” Pastor Huener said.
