From June 12-20, more than 1,350 boys will participate in the 2010 Ohio Buckeye Boy’s State Program being held at Bowling Green State University.

Since 1936, more than 84,000 boys have participated in the mock government exercise. The young men run campaigns, elections, and hold office in various state and local political positions.

This year, the Genoa American Legion, the Genoa Kiwanis Club, and the Genoa Banking Company are sponsoring three area boys for the weeklong event. They include Tyler Hoyles, Kris Ramsdel and Cory Kinsel.

Superintendent to be “roasted”
A tribute roast of Woodmore Schools Superintendent Jane Garling will be held June 25 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Elmore Historical Society Barn in Ory Park, downtown Elmore.

The event, open to those 21 and older, will include refreshments, snacks and door prizes. The cost is $15 per ticket or $25 per couple. Advance reservations appreciated. For more information, call 419-862-2766. Tickets are also available for purchase at Blair Associates in Elmore.

All proceeds from this fundraiser benefit CAGE and their ongoing efforts for Woodmore Schools.

“Thank you” celebration held
The balloons have dropped and the confetti has been swept away but the Crystal Bowersox star power is still alive in Elliston.

On June 16, Trinity U.C.C. and Bowerstock held an ice cream and dessert bar social to thank the numerous donors who made the weekly “American Idol” celebrations a success.

As part of the celebration, donations were presented to Diabetes Youth Services, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Ottawa County Agricultural Society/Fairgrounds.
