The Harris-Elmore Public Library has announced the winners in the sixth annual Teen Poetry Contest.

They included:
Female – Serious: Callie Staton, “Coward,” first place; Katey  Anderson, “Scrapbook of Life,” second place; Erica Shiets, “Willow Tree,” third place; Kayley Nitz, “Leaves” and Kaitlin McTague, “Still Dead, Two Books Later,” honorable mention.

Female – Humorous: Kaitlin McTague, “Now Back to You, Stan,” first place; Karissa Boiselle, “Beatlemania,” second place; Lauren Saionzkowski, “Hair No More,” third place.

Male – Serious: Elijah Edwards, “Listen to the Wind,” first place; Logan Fonesca “The Beach,” second place; Zach Gephart, “In My Barn,” third place.

Male – Humorous: Ben St. John, “Ben,” first place; Justin Merkle, “In My House,” honorable mention.

Best All-Around Poet: Kaitlin McTague.

Seventy-eight entries were submitted. Honorable mention winners received a bookmark and a coupon From Red, White and Brew in Elmore; third-place winners received a book; second-place winners received a $15 gift card from Books-a-Million and first-place winners received a $25 gift card, from Books-a-Million. McTague received a book on writing poetry.
