Genoa residents win big
The winning ticket was pulled during a live TV special on WNWO NBC 24 on June 9.
Twelve other prizes were also drawn during the live giveaway, including a 42-inch plasma screen TV; and $1,000 gift certificates to Alan Miller Jewelers, Toledo Door and Window, The Melting Pot, Pottery Barn and Dick’s Sporting Goods, among others.
“We’re really proud of the success of the St. Jude Dream Giveaway in Toledo,” said Stacy Ziarko of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “We are very appreciative of WNWO NBC 24, K100, Westfield Franklin Park Mall, JMS Real Estate Industries and local residents whose generous support made this event possible.”
The St. Jude Dream Giveaway raised $281,000 to further lifesaving research and treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
On a recent day, the woman had made copies of her Social Security income statement and Social Security card and then went to Dollar General to purchase some items.
Unbeknownst to her, the original documents fell out of her purse while in the store. When she returned home and realized they were missing, she immediately called Dollar General and talked to Michelle, the manager, who told the customer she had found the two forms and had taken them to her home where they were locked up so no one else could look at them.
The customer expressed her profound gratitude and noted the store manager was “an angel.”
On Friday Oct. 2 at 5 p.m., the classmates will tour Waite High School and then attend the Homecoming football game against Bowsher, leaving after halftime to head to Oak Shade Grove’s clubhouse in Oregon for sandwiches, drinks and fun.
The next day, classmates will meet at the Hilton Garden Inn in Levis Commons in Perrysburg at 6 p.m. The evening will include hors d’oeuvres, drinks (cash bar), dinner and dancing, with music provided by Cruisin’ Zeake. The cost is $50 per person. Reservations are due by Aug. 15.
On Oct. 4, alumni who want one last get-together will meet for a brunch at the Hilton Garden Inn for brunch. The cost for brunch is $12.95 per person.

The Auxiliary, with more than 110 members, maintains a flexible program that appeals to adults of all ages with diverse interests. Its activities are designed to provide educational opportunities for its membership, as well as to provide assistance, service and support to the hospital and the community.
