Donation presented
During the months of January and February, Lakewood Church of the Brethren, 27009 Lemoyne Rd., Millbury, collected monies to donate to the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank. A total of $500 was donated to the food bank – enough to provide about 2,000 meals, the food bank estimates.

The collection effort was conducted as part of the Domestic Hunger Matching Grant program of the Church of the Brethren, headquartered in Elgin, Ill., which promised to match local congregations’ collections. Three hundred fifty four congregations raised $183,000 for food banks in their local communities, which was matched by the Church of the Brethren.

Members of the Lakewood church Workin’ Wonders group presented the check to the Northwestern Ohio Food Bank May 7. The Workin’ Wonders service group participates in a monthly community service work project.
