Susan Mulligan was appointed as the chairperson of the Ottawa County Democratic Central Committee at the Ottawa Democrats March monthly meeting.

Mulligan replaces outgoing chair Jodi Regal, who also currently serves as Ottawa County Auditor. Regal and Mulligan have served as officers of the Central Committee since 2006. Regal cited a recent increase in family responsibilities as her reason for giving up the post.

The Ottawa County Democratic Central and Executive Committees meet the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the activities room at the Riverview Nursing Home (just east of Oak Harbor on SR 105). Meetings are open to the public. Interested Democrats are encouraged to attend.

Thrivent approves activities
At a recent meeting of the Ottawa County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, five fund-raising activities of local organizations were approved for supplemental funds through Care Abounds in Communities, one of the community service activities of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

The Ottawa County Horse Foundation will be hold a Little Caesar’s Pizza Sale March 31 and a Tack Sale/Lunch stand at the Carroll Twp. Complex April 19. Proceeds from both activities will be used to pay off the loan on the Wash Rack at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds.

Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmore will host a pre-Lenten service perch dinner from 6 to7:15 p.m. All donations will be shared equally with the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Sandusky County, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, MetroDetroit-Northwest Ohio Chapter.

A chicken Bar-B-Q will be held April 26 at the Community Market VFW Hall in Oak Harbor to benefit the Western Relay for Life teams of the American Cancer Society.

The Rocky Ridge Graytown Baseball Association will hold a Chicken Bar-B-Q May 16 at Graytown School. The funds raised are designated for field maintenance and purchase of shade covers for the dugout.

And on Nov. 7, a Sauerkraut Supper will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmore. Funds raised are designated to support The Lutheran Hour radio broadcast.
