The Elmore Unit of the Salvation Army reports that $6,959.53 was raised from kettle collections in Woodville and Elmore.

The amount collected represented a decrease of $106.98 from last year’s collections. Woodville collections totaled $682.97 and Elmore collected $6,276.56, Nancy Weidner, treasurer, said.

Weidner expressed her gratitude to coordinators Barb Runion, Woodville coordinator, and Georgiana Huizenga, Elmore coordinator, as well as the Woodmore High School Key Club and the Elmore Kiwanis. Several individual also manned kettles, Weidner said.

“The moneys collected in Woodville and Elmore are spent in those communities and also help any school children in need,” Weidner said. “Last year, we assisted people with heating, food, rent, prescriptions, lodging and other emergency needs.” Assistance was also given to transients in need of fuel, lodging, etc.

Weidner also issued a special thanks to those who bought gifts for the Angel Trees in Woodville and Elmore, and to Sharon Arndt and her “elves,” who distributed the gifts.
