Concert canceled
Organizers of the “Tuning Up for Food” concerts have announced, due to the cooler fall temperatures, there will be no live music benefit concert this weekend at the Sandusky County Fairgrounds.

According to concert promoter, Billy Lee, a little less than 2,000 pounds of food was collected through the summer concert series - falling short of the 2,500-pound goal. The Oct. 12 and 13 concerts, which benefit the Sandusky County Food Pantry, were to be the last concerts of the season.

“We had a rough month in May, with a really cold, nasty weekend, and our attendance was down at a couple other shows due to other activities going on in the area.” said Lee.

Lee said he is grateful for the vast amount of talent that came out to share their time and talents for each concert.

“We had some great entertainment at each and every concert. Everyone was I called to invite was glad to come out and perform on stage,” he said. Most of the musicians and entertainers donated their respective performances through the summer. He said some of the entertainers may be hired to perform at the 2014 Sandusky County Fair.

Sponsors for the 2013 summer concert series included Crown Battery, Fremont Music Center, and The News-Messenger.

Committee members thanked the Sandusky County Agricultural Society, Sweet Home Café, Paramount Cinemas, Subway Shops of Fremont, PaPa Murphy’s Pizza, The 818 Club, Schmittuz Gardens, and Lowe’s of Fremont for donating gift certificates and items used in drawings and prizes at the concerts. They thanked Viper Security, Buckeye Sound & Lighting and ReWire Media Recording Studios for donations, as well as everyone that attended the concert series through the summer, and made food and monetary donations at the shows.

The Fremont Flea Market will be held Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. -3 p.m. For more information about the flea market, visit www.sanduskycountyfair.com or call the Ag Society office at 419-332-5604.
