Miss Bavarian Sports Club
Monica Martin of Oregon, was crowned Miss Bavarian Sports Club on July 14, at the club’s annual picnic held at Oak Shade Grove.
Martin, a sophomore at Cardinal Stritch Catholic High School and the feature twirler for the band, plays percussion, flute, and is a member of Chorale. She has been awarded the St. John Bosco award for the most service hours in her class. She is also very active at St. Jerome Church as an alter server and a member of the church choir.
The daughter of Bob and Jackie Martin, been dancing with the Bavarian Holzhacker Buam Schuhplatters group since she was 6 years old.
Recently she competed in the Gauverband Nordamerika GAUfest held in Sandusky, performing the Einzal. She is also active in the GAF Jugendwache Camp.
Coloring contest winners
Joyful Connections, a supervised visitation and exchange center serving Ottawa and the surrounding counties has announced the winners of its recent coloring contest held in recognition of Supervised Visitation Awareness Month.
Prizes were awarded to the top three winners in the contest, which was open to 150 preschoolers throughout the county.
First-place winner was Mya, age 4; second-place winner was Hannah, age 4 and third-place winner was Ada, age 5. Each winner received a prize of outdoor toys to enjoy with their family.
The mission of Joyful Connections, located in Oak Harbor, is to provide a child-focused, healthy, safe and home-like environment where children can interact with family members in a non-judgmental setting.
