Healthy competition
Since 1983, the Ottawa County Board of Health has presented Awards of Merit to licensed operations in Ottawa County that have maintained a high degree of sanitation and safety.

The annual award offers tribute to the high level of concern by the operators for meeting the rules and regulations and providing an operation that exceeds the minimum requirements.

At the Oct. 9 board meeting, Jerry Bingham, Director of Environmental Health, presented an Award of Merit to the following operations:

• Food Service Operation - Limited Menu, Genoa High School;

• Large Manufactured Home Park – Summer Breeze Association, Port Clinton;

• Small Manufactured Home Park – Bay Winds Mobile Home Park, Marblehead;

• Swimming Pool – Harborside Condominiums, Port Clinton;

• Large Campground – Fenwick Marina, Oak Harbor;

• Small Campground – Portage Cove Park and Marina, Port Clinton;

Dancing for CASA
The lineup of participants for the fifth annual “Ottawa County CASA Stars Dance for CASA” fundraising event has been announced.

Couples dancing this year will include Oak Harbor Middle School Principal Marie Wittman with Hank Fox of Class A Performing Arts; Marblehead Mayor Jackie Bird with Timothy Nyman of Black Tie Dance Studio; Bert Fall, vice president of New Media, WPCR with Mary Ann Snider of The Ballet School; Connie Moore, supervisor of Design Engineering at Davis Besse with Timothy Nyman of Black Tie Dance Studio; Cole Hatfield, Port Clinton City Councilman with Annessia Nyman of Black Tie Dance Studio and Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputy Curtis Cochran with Lisa Ramsey of The Ballet School.

The teams will be battling it out on the dance floor to raise funds for CASA, a program that provides advocacy for abused and neglected children.

The event, which will include silent and live auctions, music and more, will be held at the Camp Perry Conference Center Nov. 17. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the dancing will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30, which includes hors d’oeuvres. A cash bar will be available.

Red Kettle kickoff 
The Salvation Army-Port Clinton Service Center will hold the 19th Annual Red Kettle Campaign Kickoff Celebration Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Catawba Island Club, 4235 E. Beachclub Rd., Port Clinton.
