Terra names president The Terra State Community College Board of Trustees has unanimously selected current Vice President for Student and Administrative Affairs Dr. Jerome Webster as the college’s sixth president.

Auxiliary helps veterans In mid-October, Winnie Chasteen, Elmore’s American Legion Auxiliary Veteran Affairs and Rehabilitation Chairman, initiated two projects for Ottawa County veterans – “Buddy Back Packs” and “Veteran Families in Need.”
The Auxiliary has donated 17 Buddy Back Packs containing various items that a homeless person would need to Wade Park Veteran’s Hospital. Fortunately, Ottawa County had no homeless Veterans in December.

Oak Harbor youth attends summit Kasey Peterson, a participant in the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) youth program operated by WSOS in Ottawa County, visited the White House Jan. 5 to participate in the launch of President Obama’s 2012 Summer Jobs Plus program.
Kasey, a senior at Oak Harbor High School, was accompanied by her mom, Sherry, along with Oak Harbor Village Administrator Robert Pauley, and WSOS Development Specialist Kerrie Carte. Pauley supervised Kasey when she completed her summer program duties as an administrative assistant at the Oak Harbor mayor’s office.
