90s Plus Spectacular
The Wood County Committee on Aging, Inc. is inviting Wood County residents who are 90 years and older to celebrate their longevity at the “90s Plus Spectacular” Monday, May 20 at 3:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 315 S College Dr., Bowling Green.

Coping with traumatic stress
The bombings in Boston, the plant explosion in Texas and the severe weather hitting area communities have forced people to confront a wide range of traumatic and stressful events during the last week.

Incidents like these require everyone –not just those on the ground in the affected areas but also those watching media outlets in other places – to pay attention to their mental health and to take steps to positively manage stress.

Ronald Miller Honor Flight
Honor Flight Northwest Ohio will begin its 2013 flying season Tuesday, April 30, with a flight designated the “Ronald Miller Memorial Flight,” in memory of the Genoa American Legion Band Announcer who passed away in December 2012.

Seventy-four veterans, each accompanied by a guardian, will take the flight to Washington, D.C. where they will visit the World War II Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, the Vietnam War Memorial, the Air Force Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Beach cleanup set
To celebrate Earth Day and help remove litter from area beaches, the Ottawa Soil and Water Conservation District, Alliance for the Great Lakes, Camp Perry, Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, Friends of Magee Marsh, City of Port Clinton, East Harbor State Park, Catawba Island State Park and Ottawa Sandusky Seneca County Joint Solid Waste Management District are joining together to host county-wide beach clean-ups.
