Allocations from the National Board have not been approved yet, but WSOS encourages any agency wishing to apply to pick up an application at 109 S. Front St. Fremont.

The award is made by the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board, which is chaired by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). WSOS distributes the funds to county groups.

A local board comprised of community agencies will recommend who should receive these funds. Organizations chosen to receive the funds must be private, voluntary, non-profit organizations or units of government; must have an accounting system; must practice non-discrimination; must have demonstrated the capacity to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs; and, if a private volunteer organization, must have a voluntary board of directors.

Organizations interested in applying for funding should contact Tony Lindenberger at WSOS at 419-334-8911.

Revaluation inspections
State law requires county auditors to appraise each individual parcel of real estate in the county every six years. Called a revaluation, this program is required by Ohio law to equalize values and to take into account the need to adjust values based on current trends in the market and to reflect any changes since Jan. 1, 2006.

To aid in this process, data collectors are going throughout the county to gather information about individual properties.

During March, data collectors will be in Oregon and Jerusalem Township to conduct field inspections of properties as part of the 2012 revaluation of all real estate, as mandated by state law.

Data collectors will take exterior photographs of properties and verify the property’s physical attributes. Residents are urged not to allow anyone to enter their homes. . Homeowners unsure of the identity of any individual should confirm with the Auditor’s Office by calling 419-213-4406 before allowing an inspection.

At the request of the property owner, interior inspections are conducted by appointment only. To schedule an interior inspection, call the Lucas County Auditor’s office at 419-213-4406.  View a data collection video at www.co.lucas.oh.us/reval2012.

Data collectors work Mondays through Saturday between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. The Auditor’s Office will provide additional updates throughout the project.
