Beatles tribute The internationally-acclaimed Beatles concert, “RAIN – A Tribute to the Beatles, will make its debut at the Stranahan Theater for two shows Jan. 18 and 19 at 8 p.m.
Tickets start at $23 and are available through all Ticketmaster outlets, at the Stranahan box office, online at theaterleague.com or by calling 800-745-3000.
“RAIN” boasts a repertoire of nearly 200 Beatlemaniac favorites, ranging from such beloved songs as “Yesterday” and “Hey Jude” to classic hits including “Revolution” and “Come Together.”
The story of RAIN began in the mid 1970s when keyboardist Mark Lewis joined forces with four other local musicians who together formed the band that was originally called “Reign” and played throughout the Los Angeles/Orange County area. With their mutual love for the music of The Beatles, Reign was in demand to play Beatles music. Before long they had built a strong devoted following in and around Los Angeles. Following numerous misspellings in the media and advertising, “Reign” became “RAIN” (also the title of a 1966 Beatles single).

Heating help available The 2010-11 Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program (EHEAP) got off to a quick start in November by serving 662 households in the WSOS four-county service area. The number is only one more than those served during the same period in 2009 despite changes in the way the current program is operated.
Due to changes made by some utility companies and the establishment of the Percentage of Payment Plan (PIPP) Plus program, fewer residents have received disconnection notices. In addition, agencies providing this service now have 28 days to meet with applicants. These changes mean that fewer people will be seen in a month.
“With the volume of calls we are receiving so far, we are on target to serve more people than ever before,” said Tony Lindenberger, basic needs specialist at WSOS.
The income limits to receive assistance through the program remains at 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. Households with one person should earn no more than $21,660 or four-person households should have incomes of no more than $44,100.
EHEAP provides one-time assistance to income-eligible residents to help them maintain their heating source by paying some of their heating bills. These households receive up to $175 one time for electric and other utilities and up to $600 for those who use propane and have less than a 10-day supply left in the tank.
Assistance with heating bills comes from EHEAP and regular HEAP. Regular HEAP also provides a one-time per heating season assistance with paying some heating bills. WSOS has applications available and can assist applicants with forms. Both EHEAP and HEAP operate until March 31.
Appointments are required to apply for assistance through EHEAP. To make an appointment in Wood County, call 419-353-7407; in Ottawa County, call 419-734-2652; or in Sandusky County, call 419-334-5126.
Effective Jan. 1, residents in Sandusky and Ottawa counties should call the Fremont office at 419-334-5126 to schedule an appointment. Those in Fostoria should contact the office in Fostoria at 419-435-4884, while those in Wood County and the rest of Seneca County should contact the Tiffin office at 419-447-0084.

Leutz Rd., Oak Harbor, has been charged with two counts of Possession of Drugs, one felony of the fifth degree and one misdemeanor of the first degree, along with one misdemeanor count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. • Donna L. Gochenour, 54, of Sandusky; Wally Bragg, 42, of Port Clinton and Nysanna Cole, 36, also of Port Clinton, have each been indicted for Criminal Nonsupport after they allegedly failed to pay court-ordered child support for their respective minor dependants. Warrants have been issued for Cooper and Hunter. All others are scheduled to make their initial appearances in the Ottawa County Court of Common Pleas on Dec. 27.
Ottawa County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Mulligan noted that an indictment is merely a formal charge in the Common Pleas Court and does not denote guilt or innocence.
