Benefit breakfast Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elmore will host a benefit breakfast to help the Faulkner family Feb. 6 from 7 to 10 a.m. The church is located on SR 51 (Woodville Road) at Witty Road, a mile north of Elmore.
Funds raised will help defray the medical costs of the family of 4-year-old Timothy Faulkner, who has been diagnosed with Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome, a chronic, incurable vascular disorder that requires regular intervention. The closest medical facility that offers the treatment he needs is the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Though the family has insurance, it does not cover all the costs associated with treatments.
The breakfast will include sausage and bacon from Tank’s Meats, scrambled eggs, juice, milk, coffee and all the pancakes one can eat. The requested donation is $3 per person, however additional donations will be gratefully accepted. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will provide matching funds.
For directions or more information, call the church at 419-862-3630 or e-mail

The Commanders are in the process of creating what they hope will be the largest men’s a cappella chorus in northwest Ohio. They are the performing component of the Maumee Valley Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society.
Guests are invited to take part in four free voice lessons and learn how to sing or perfect their skills. Refreshments will be served. There is no charge.
“You don’t have to have a terrific voice or know how to read music,” said the Commanders president Daryl Hole. “The only requirement is that you enjoy singing, fun and fellowship. And, this is a great hobby for fathers and sons to share.”
Membership in the chapter offers men the opportunity to improve their singing ability, participate in competitions with other chapters and to present public shows and concerts in the local area.
