After a recent session, the Ottawa County Grand Jury has indicted Frederick B. Harder, 38, on 37 counts of rape, all felonies of the first degree; and 36 counts of sexual battery, all felonies of the third degree.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s reports, Harder had been engaging in sexual activity with a minor since 2009. He is currently being held in the Ottawa County Detention Facility.
Indictments were also returned against Leshawn C. Gilleland, 19, on several felony counts of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and felonious assault. An investigation by Port Clinton Police, in conjunction with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, determined that Gilleland was responsible for several recent crimes, including an attack on a 76-year-old man at his home Nov. 12 and the robbery of another man at knifepoint on Nov. 29. Gilleland is also being held in the Ottawa County Detention Facility.
Warrants were issued for both men, who were expected to make their initial appearances in the Ottawa County Court of Common Pleas last week.
