Board members sought
The Board of Lucas County Commissioners is seeking applicants to fill vacancies on the Lucas County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board.
Mental Health and Recovery Services Board members work to enhance the wellbeing of county residents by promoting mental health, preventing substance abuse and facilitating a process of recovery for persons experiencing mental illness and/or alcohol and other drug disorders.

Wear Red Feb. 3
The American Heart Association is asking everyone to show support on Feb. 3 for “Go Red For Women,” a nationwide movement that celebrates the energy, passion and power women have to band together and wipe out heart disease.
Heart disease is still the number-one killer of women, taking the life of one in three women each year. Those wishing to show support can wear red to work, make a donation to the campaign and learn more about preventing heart disease.

Free tax clinics
Area residents who earned less than $60,000 in 2011 can file their income taxes at the Wood County offices of WSOS Community Action Commission.
Tax clinics will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the WSOS Jordan Family Development Center, 812 N. College Ave., Bowling Green on the following dates:
• Feb. 1, 3, 6, 10, 21, 24, 28;

MLK holiday closure
Owens Community College Toledo-area and Findlay-area campuses, as well as the Arrowhead Park Learning Center in Maumee and the Learning Center at The Source in downtown Toledo, will be closed Monday, Jan. 16 in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Singers, musicians invited
The Christian Festival Choir and Orchestra invite area singers and instrumentalists to join them in preparation for their annual concert “Exaltation 2012” March 16 at 7 p.m. and March 18 at 3 p.m. at Northwood High School, Northwood.
Rehearsals will begin Jan. 7 at 9 a.m. at Reformation Lutheran Church, 4543 Douglas Rd., Toledo. Rehearsals will continue on Saturdays until their concert.
