Navy Seaman Recruit Kyle L. Fountain, son of Kim Corbett of Toledo, and Keith Fountain, of Northwood, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Fountain is a 2011 graduate of Genoa High School.

Navy Seaman Recruit Robert Pickett, nephew of Frank and Mischelle Wysong, of Oregon, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Pickett completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.


Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Joshua R. Baker, son of Laurie and Paul Baker of Genoa, and fellow Sailors assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 (NMCB 133) are conducting qualifications in preparation for Bold Alligator 2012 the nation's largest joint/multinational amphibious assault exercise in the past 10 years.

Baker, a 2002 graduate of Genoa Area High School, joined the Navy in December 2002.
