Mark A. Pennington has joined the U.S. Army under the Delayed Entry Program, which gives young men and women the opportunity to delay entering active duty for up to one year.

Pennington, a 2007 graduate of Clay High School, will report to Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga., for basic training in January 2010. He is the son of Robert and Melanie Pennington, of Curtice.
