Jonathan C. Weaver has joined the United States Army Reserve under the Delayed Training Program, which gives young men and women the opportunity to delay reporting for basic military training for up to 270 days. The recruit qualifies for a $20,000 enlistment bonus.

Weaver, who   currently attends Eastwood High School, will report to Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C., for basic training in June. He is the son of Jamie and Amy Weaver, of Pemberville.


Marine Corps Pfc. Michael S. Butler, II, son of Evelyn White of Laurel, Miss. and Michael Butler of Oregon, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C.
