Navy Seaman Apprentice Samantha R. Cerveny, daughter of Michele Cerveny and Jeff Cerveny, both of Toledo, recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N. J.
During the eight-week training program, Cerveny completed a vigorous training curriculum consisting of academics and practical instruction on water safety and survival, military customs and courtesies, seamanship skills, physical fitness, health and wellness, first aid, firefighting and marksmanship.
Cerveny is a 2011 graduate of Genoa High School.
Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Stephen B. Brewer, son of Susan Brewer of Sandusky, and David Brewer, of Oregon, along with Seabees assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 11, donated 10 large boxes of food items to the Seabee Pantry at Naval Construction Battalion Center (NCBC) Gulfport, Miss.
Brewer's battalion had accumulated about 500 pounds of donations, including items such as canned foods, boxes of cereal, condiments, snack foods, and many other food items. Located in NCBC's Base Chapel, the Seabee Pantry provides help to military members and their dependents, including active duty, reservists, and retirees.
