Marine Corps Pfc. Jacob D. Dippman, son of Terry and Dan Dippman, of Oregon, earned the title of United States Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C.

For 13 weeks, Dippman stayed committed during some of the world's most demanding entry-level military training in order to be transformed from civilian to Marine instilled with pride, discipline and the core values of honor, courage and commitment.

Dippman is a 2009 graduate of Cardinal Stritch High School of Oregon.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Casidy L. Bumbera, daughter of Cindy Bumbera of Genoa and Randy Bumbera, of Curtice, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Bumbera is a 2010 graduate of Genoa Area High School.
