Master Gardener class
Informational classes for those interested in becoming Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Volunteers will be held Aug. 27 in the Conference Center at Toledo Botanical Garden, 5403 Elmer Dr., Toledo.

Sessions will be held at 12:30 and 5:30 p.m.

Master Gardener volunteers offer a variety of educational services and programs to Ohio residents. Participants must complete 50 hours of training offered for nine consecutive Tuesdays beginning Feb. 4, 2014. Classes will be offered from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the TBG Conference Center. Volunteers will also be asked to donate 50 hours of service to the community.

Latta to speak
Congressman Robert Latta will address issues facing agriculture in Ohio at the monthly Northwest Ohio Ag-Business Breakfast Forum, Thursday, Aug. 15 from 8-9:30 a.m.

The program will begin at 8:30 a.m. with informal networking prior, hosted by the Center for Innovative Food Technology (CIFT) at the Agricultural Incubator Foundation, located at 13737 Middleton Pike (SR 582) in Bowling Green.

Volunteer group helps end hunger
The Society of St. Andrew, a national, ecumenical, non-profit organization with headquarters in Big Island, Va., which feeds America’s hungry by gleaning farm/fields and orchards, is seeking fruit and vegetable growers who would be willing to grant the volunteers access to their fields and orchards.
