OSU Extension names educator
OSU Extension, Lucas County has named Patrice Powers-Barker the newest Extension Educator for Family and Consumer Sciences.
Powers-Barker brings 13 years of work experience with OSU Extension, Lucas County and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Justice and Master of Arts in Family Studies to the position.
“Patrice’s experience will allow her to hit the ground running. She is connected in our community and has so much to offer,” said Amy Stone, the County Extension Director. “There will be exciting things happening in the FCS program area under Patrice’s leadership.”
Powers-Barker has served as a Program Assistant for the Lucas County Extension since 1999 in a variety of areas including neighborhood community gardening, Family and Consumer Sciences and the Family Nutrition Program, including Summer Food Service Programming for youth. She will continue to work on the local foods program, “From Plant to Plate,” which focuses on easy-to-grow, economical, edible plants.
Through professional work as well as volunteer time, Powers-Barker partners with Choice Food Pantries, community gardens and other organizations that reflect the values of building strong, healthy, diverse communities.
