An informational meeting on the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), the Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP), the Emergency Watershed Protection Floodplain Easement Program (EWPP-FPE) and the Farm and Ranch Land Protection Program (FRPP) will begin at 9 a.m. June 22 at the Luckey Farmers main office, 1200 W. Main St., Woodville.
EQIP is primarily for agricultural producers with a natural resource issue, such as soil erosion. WHIP is for landowners who want to create or restore wildlife habitat or combat invasive species on their land. FRPP is for farmers who want to keep their land in agricultural production by placing a conservation easement on the property. The EWPP-FPE is for landowners who have floodplain lands that have been impaired by flooding within the last 12 months or that have a history of repeated flooding (flooded at least twice in the past 10 years). A conservation easement will be placed on the floodplain and the land restored to its original state. Signup for GLRI funding is being held until July1.
Ohio has $6.4 million for landowners with land in the priority watersheds of the Lake Erie Watershed for 2010.
